Hahtag #science: Today’s packing day, meaning reflection and organizing

Today’s packing day, meaning reflection and organizing day, it has been a great trip for research and photography, I finally saw a few species I’d been wanting to see for awhile. Most important of those, the Fiery-throated Hummingbird, in my opinion, Costa Rica’s most brilliant Hummingbird species. They can be difficult to photograph, they’re fast moving and getting the gorget completely illuminated at a proper angle with no flash, can be a tough test. This was one of my favorites out of the thousands of shots I took.

The Stickney Crater on the Martian moon Phobos has a diameter that is nearly as large as the moon itself. Mathematical models tell us that this impact likely came close to shattering the moon into pieces. This fantastic, color-enhanced image from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter exposes the crater in great detail. Planetary scientists and geologists can use images like this to gain insight into the effects an impact has on other celestial bodies. With only 1/1000th of Earth’s gravity, scientists remarkably were able to discover that loose material has been sliding down the inside of the crater walls over time. This movement of sediment downward is exposed as streaks propagating from the crater rim. ☕️☕️☕️ If you find AstroDaily useful and educational, you can support it by buying me a cup of coffee via: ko-fi.com/astronomy (clickable link in bio). This great new idea has just been announced by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, as a part of a proposed £750 000 3-year plan to reduce the city's plastic problem. . . Very soon twenty new water fountains will be unveiled and as of February/March a small group of London businesses will begin providing free access to tap water. These initiatives will allow customers to refill their own bottles rather than having to buy single use water while on the go. . . Great work , can't wait to see what follows!

This is why I use onguard internally, topically, and aromatically every day. It’s a great oil for your diffuser! We all sleep with it at night. Oh, and for all you teachers.... this is a must. ・・・ Rightfully named the Cartwheel Galaxy, this celestial object’s shape is a result of a violent galactic collision. A smaller galaxy has passed right through a large disk galaxy and produced shock waves that swept up gas and dust, much like ripples produced when a stone is dropped into a lake. Intense areas of star formation were sparked up, seen here in blue by our Hubble Space Telescope ( ). The outermost ring of the galaxy, which is 1.5 times the size of our Milky Way, marks the shock wave’s leading edge. This object is one of the most dramatic examples of the small class of ring galaxies. This image is based on earlier Hubble data of the Cartwheel Galaxy that was reprocessed in 2010, bringing out more detail in the image than seen before. Credit: ESA/Hubble & NASA
