This visualization is an excerpt from a longer sequence that explores the Orion Nebula using both visible and infrared light. Two correlated computer models were created based on visible-light observations from the Hubble Space Telescope and infrared-light observations from the Spitzer Space Telescope. As the camera flies into the star-forming region, the sequence cross-fades back and forth between the visible and infrared views. The glowing gaseous landscape has been illuminated and carved by the high-energy radiation and strong stellar winds from the massive hot stars in the central cluster. The infrared observations generally show cooler temperature gas at a deeper layer of the nebula that extends well beyond the visible image. In addition, the infrared showcases many faint stars that shine primarily at longer wavelengths. The higher resolution visible observations show finer details including the wispy bow shocks and tadpole-shaped proplyds. In this manner, the movie illustrates the contrasting features uncovered by multi-wavelength astronomy. Credit: NASA/Hubble 231

One of the most prominent winter constellations in Wisconsin: Orion ••• Can you find him in this photo? ••• Orion is in Greek Mythology as a hunter. The three stars across the center are said to be his belt and the three little ones on a diagonal below that make up his sword. In Wisconsin, he’s in the Southwestern sky. Try to find him next time you’re looking up at the sky this winter!

. 🔹Hubble’s Cartwheel . 🔹This is an image of the Cartwheel Galaxy taken with the NASA/ESA (European Space Agency) Hubble Space Telescope. . 🔹The object was first spotted on wide-field images from the U.K. Schmidt telescope and then studied in detail using the Anglo-Australian Telescope. . 🔹Lying about 500 million light-years away in the constellation of Sculptor, the cartwheel shape of this galaxy is the result of a violent galactic collision. A smaller galaxy has passed right through a large disk galaxy and produced shock waves that swept up gas and dust — much like the ripples produced when a stone is dropped into a lake — and sparked regions of intense star formation (appearing blue). The outermost ring of the galaxy, which is 1.5 times the size of our Milky Way, marks the shock wave’s leading edge. Great Collapse The shape of the universe depends on the material density and the dark energy expanding the universe. The universe began to expand very quickly from a singularity 13.8 billion years ago and still continues to expand. If there is little dark energy in the environment and the material density is too much, it is like the surface of space-time-like shape, and after a certain time dark energy loses its efficiency and surrenders mass. Thus the great decline begins, because there is not enough energy left in the middle to expand the universe. It would seem like a big downfall if we could watch the time from Big-bang back up to the initial singularity. Because the matter stood closer to each other, the galaxies continued to collide, heat up, and space-time twisted under the influence of intensity. And eventually we'd be back in the loop. However, if the universe we now live in is a major collapse of the previous universe, here is a cyclical event, and before that we can say that the infinite number of universes exist and disappear. Nevertheless, it ceases to be a temodynamic supremacy; this model of the universe contradicts my second law. Thus, the cyclic model of the universe can be lifted a little bit.

‪Have you ever been to an observatory? What is the biggest telescope that you have ever seen? Every year I have the opportunity to bring my astronomy year students from to the Teide Observatory in Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain) run by , to use the IAC80 (featured in the image, 80cm diameter) and the Carlos Sanchez (1.5m diameter) telescopes for their final year projects. Some of the images that you can see in my profile (M1, M51, M88, M96, M99, Arp271...) were taken with the IAC80 telescope. Millions AND billions! This enormous galaxy cluster, seen by our Hubble Space Telescope ( ), contains the mass of a staggering three million billion suns! Nicknamed “El Gordo” (“the Fat One” in Spanish), it is the largest, hottest and brightest X-ray galaxy ever discovered in the distant Universe. Galaxy clusters are the largest objects in the Universe that are bound together by gravity. They form over billions of years as smaller groups of galaxies slowly come together. In 2012, observations showed that El Gordo is actually composed of two galaxy clusters colliding at millions of kilometers per hour. The formation of galaxy clusters depends heavily on dark matter and dark energy; studying such clusters can therefore help shed light on these elusive phenomena. In 2014, Hubble found that most of El Gordo’s mass is concealed in the form of dark matter. Evidence suggests that El Gordo’s “normal” matter — largely composed of hot gas that is bright in the X-ray wavelength domain — is being torn from the dark matter in the collision. During a total lunar eclipse, the moon often appears to be a bright hue of red/orange which is also known as 'Blood Moon'. The reason that the moon can be seen at all during totality is that sunlight is scattered and refracted around the edge of the Earth by our atmosphere. If an astronaut were standing on the moon's surface during totality, the sun would be hidden behind a dark Earth. The planet would appear roughly four times larger than the sun and would be rimmed by a brilliant, reddish ring of all the world's sunrises and sunsets.
