adrienpatane: So for my 250th post, I thought I’

So for my 250th post, I thought I’d include a capture as a subtle reminder, that quite often it can be the journey that matters more than the end goal... this capture taken along the path to the well known Sol Duc Falls, I actually preferred this capture and locale to my end goal at the falls 😉 _______________________________________________________

adrienpatane: Sunset & Storms over Surfers Paradise
A warm Gold

Sunset & Storms over Surfers Paradise A warm Gold Coast Summer eve, the beach was bathed in stunning light from the collision of a passing storm and a gorgeous sunset 🌅 _______________________________________________________ _ig

adrienpatane: Swells, Swirls & a Surfers Paradise Storm
Consecutive storms

Swells, Swirls & a Surfers Paradise Storm Consecutive storms over the Gold Coast brought stifling humidity, yet wandering on the gorgeous beach shortly before the skies opened up, eerie light bathed my hometown landscape in stunning light. I was even approached by a local who said she’d never seen such unique skies... ⛈ ____________________________________

adrienpatane: Morning Peninsula Backbeach Beauty
Rye, Sorrento, Portsea & surrounds

Morning Peninsula Backbeach Beauty Rye, Sorrento, Portsea & surrounds host a near innumerate amount of beaches & rugged cliffsides. This capture taken from St Paul’s beach which simply appears as you emerge from the dense coastal scrub 🙂. I found this locale by checking local maps and was blown away by the solitude @ rugged beauty. _______________________________________________________

adrienpatane: Frosty Sprague Lake Sunrise
After a chilly start

Frosty Sprague Lake Sunrise After a chilly start to the morning we ventured to one of the best locales for sunrise in Rocky Mountain National Park - with the lakes already almost frozen over it was just a wee bit cold with the wind whipping across the lake 😉. But as always, sunrises in RMNP never fail to impress as the clouds turned pink, and the flanking mountains caught some pretty alpenglow 🌄 _______________________________________________________

Californian sunsets are truly

A Golden California Sunset Californian sunsets are truly special things, we watched the rolling hills over Tiburon turn warm golden hues, whilst the flanking Mt Tamalpais East peak towered majestically through complex filtered light 🌅 _______________________________________________________

adrienpatane: Rocky Mountain Iridescence
After a frosty & challenging 8mi

Rocky Mountain Iridescence After a frosty & challenging 8mi hike through Rocky Mountain National Park’s snowy upper reaches, we noticed unique colors forming in the clouds. Apparently it’s a phenomenon called iridescence, or rainbow clouds formed by sunrays diffracting through ice crystals 🌈 😀 _______________________________________________________

adrienpatane: Sneffels Range & the Sunbeam

Whilst waiting for some

Sneffels Range & the Sunbeam Whilst waiting for some color over the Sneffels Range & sheltering from thunderstorms rolling overhead, my pre-planned scene never really materialized. As is quite often the case, things never really go as planned in photography 😉 I did however notice some deep dramatic light forming on the far horizon. Then suddenly for a brief second an intense sunbeam sliced across the landscape, so I quickly recomposed and captured the scene just in time, the beam dissipated as quickly as it formed! _______________________________________________________

adrienpatane: The harsh beauty & complexity in Landscape Photography

This

The harsh beauty & complexity in Landscape Photography This capture holds special meaning - not only because the lighting & scene was truly stunning, but also because of the challenges that came with it. Good photography is never just about clicking the button, its about how all the little things coalesce to form a scene. Just to get to this location by sunset involved over 6hrs of driving, then hiking through dense forest over exceedingly steep & rugged terrain, to a location I wasn't even sure was correct 😉 Yet perched high on mountainside watching the complex light bathe the landscape was utterly breathtaking. Descending after twilight through a very dark & slippery forest was entirely no fun - but I knew this would be one to remember. _______________________________________________________

adrienpatane: Colours & Contrasts in the San Juan Mountains

This

Colours & Contrasts in the San Juan Mountains This year's fall colour weather was one of constant flux, between passing thunderstorms, sheltering from hail, snow dusting the high peaks & windblown rain, there certainly wasn't a dull moment. Just occasionally these conditions can combine to create dramatic scenes, such as this view across the landscape, making it all worth it 😉 _______________________________________________________
