All people are equal, regardless of our backgrounds. Embracing diversity creates unity and positivity. We’ve come far but we still have a long way to go. In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday, take time to remind yourself that every life is as important as your own. I’ll leave you with a quote by the King that I find fits well with this image. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Think about that.

braving the subzero temps with a Tenkara rod on the Bow River last year. We might have underestimated the fishing for the time of year but we had a blast throwing some line around.

austin.trigg: In my humble opinion, best time to visit

In my humble opinion, best time to visit the Valley is middle of the week during winter when crowds are minimal. If you happen to be visiting any other time, on the weekend or during the week and need a break from the crowds, try venturing out alongside the walls of the valley. Great views and a little slice of solitude from the crowds.

First day of 2018. With all the change in store for this year, one thing that will stay the same is finding front row seats for the nightly watch of the world turning. Hoping all of you have some solid plans for the 2018 kick off !

One New Years resolution I have is to get into places I have still yet to visit in Washington, like the Olympics in the far distance pictured here. While they look small from Mt. Pilchuck I hear there is some great places to see in those mountains. New year, new places! What’s your New Years resolutions looking like?

austin.trigg: I’ve said it before and am saying

I’ve said it before and am saying it again. I love finding new spots in old places! Maybe it’s the comfort of being in a familiar place and exploring it more or maybe it’s just the simple fact of seeing something new. This recent trip to Yosemite I was really looking forward to getting out of the valley and seeing a new place - the top of that lump of rock pictured here. Unfortunately on this morning, our second day in the park I woke up ultra sick which rarely happens to me. Turns out it was a serious case of food poisoning that lasted almost a week... so instead of pushing 16 miles to El Cap we opted to hang in the valley to see how things would progress. In return of letting go of a hopeful wish there was a silver lining which was seeing a couple new turns and bends on the valley floor. Hard to complain when both your options are in such a amazing place, just wish I wasn’t so ill during the process but that’s life.
