One step closer! followed up her 2nd place DH yesterday with a women’s World Cup DH win today in Cortina, Italy! Vonn crushed the field today with a massive 0.96 margin of victory to mark her 79th World Cup win as she closes in on the all-time record of 86. It was also the second day in a row that another US skier shared the podium with Vonn. Congratulations to Jackie Wiles on her 3rd place today. What do you do when you finish the first SL run in second place 0.37 seconds back from the leader? If you’re you torch the 2nd run and win the night by 0.94 seconds for another women’s World Cup victory! The women raced under the lights in Flachau, Austria which made for an especially dramatic setting for Mikaela’s come-from-behind win. Another Shiff-win in today’s women’s World Cup GS in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. Mikaela held a commanding 0.88 second lead after the first run and put in a gritty second run to top the field.
